I would like to add some suggestions. Currently, I have to use my patterns from this app as templates to create larger, higher dpi patterns in procreate. It would be nice to have the option for custom size AND dpi. There are only a few options with 300 dpi. I also recommend better snapping when changing the template rotations and moving them around. I like creating half brick and half drop patterns, and it takes a while to get this aligned perfectly. I would also love to see a sketching pencil, and the ability to move sketches around while keeping the seamless repeat in tact. Other than these, it’s a nice app to use as a template to trace in another app.

This app has given me and my family so much joy over the years, best pricing model (buy once and it brings you joy forever) I highly recommend this!

I have been using this app for creating all kinds of designs for several years and I almost ALWAYS turned pencil pressure off completely. It appears in the latest update with the addition of new brush types (which I LOVE BTW!), the ability to turn pencil pressure off is gone. I'm positively baffled by this...why in the world would you remove a setting like that? I would have rated the app a 4.5-5 before noticing this issue. PLEASE PUT IT BACK, PRETTY PLEASE!!

This app can obviously be a lot of fun for people without drawing skills, but it is also powerful enough for serious artists to use. In my original review, I mentioned a few issues I had with this app in the beginning; but most of them were the result of my lack of experience. Now, three years later, I can’t say enough good things about this amazing little drawing app. I upgraded my iPad mini to an iPad Pro just to use this app on a larger screen with the Apple Pencil. Anyone looking for a low-cost drawing app should get this app immediately. I’ve tried many alternatives, some of which cost a lot more and have more features, but none of them really compare to Amaziograph. The ability to export drawings in Photoshop format is the icing on the cake. I’d give it 6 stars if I could.

Amazing app.. only issue is bugs undoing things and opacities not staying put when undoing and the random stray mark that is un-erasable. Other than that it is awesome

Amaziograph, in my opinion, is the easiest app to learn. It allows perfect mandalas, graphs, other repeating patterns, and your own freehand drawings. Be sure to explore all the icons and symbols. It has a multitude of options!

I am totally enchanted by this app! So much fun! I've "gifted" it to three other people! Not a 5 b/c the palate choice icon won’t open in “fill” mode. Only after repeated tapping gymnastics will it pop open. FIX PLEASE!

…back in 2019, when I used it for a whole series of very detailed mandalas. The line work was extremely crisp and clean. I took a break for a couple years, and come back to find that now the lines come out fuzzy after I lift my pencil, no matter what adjustments I make to the line quality sliders. The symmetry types and options are still top notch, and the interface is still good, but I miss my crisp line work.

I draw digital mandalas, mostly in black and white, under the name albaviardaviviak. So far this is the best program I've used that meets all my needs. It includes layers, both rotational and mirror symmetry, and the ability to choose the number of segments. The automatic line smoothing, intuitive pen and eraser tools other menu icons had me up and running in minutes. I can’t believe I just discovered this program after drawing digital mandalas for over 7 years. Also the price insanely low. Kudos to the developers. Thank you.

The app has been wonderful so far but after the recent update (4 days ago), all the existing files it says corrupted error and won’t open. Any new files created after the update are fine again. Please fix it or else all the existing art will be lost 😢 I will update rating after it’s fixed.

I love doing mandalas with this app. It’s so easy to zone out and create.

I have used this for my own artwork and for students. After having 1000,s of art students over the years, this has been the favorite go to app. You get instant gratification it is versatile because you can turn off drawing with symmetry and work in layers. I love this app.

I love this app when I need to make a clean mandala or snowflake or even mosaic. It is fun and I also occasionally let my daughter (4 & 1/2yo) play on it. But making super straight lines is immensely difficult. Also the inability to switch between pen and eraser with a pen double tap (or last used) slows down my work flow. These are overall little quality of life things that would make it better and do not stop it from being a great program.

Really wish there was more tools to use in the app and more colors to us beside mixing them myself

I’ve had this app for over a year. I found it very easy to learn. I’m really enjoying creating mandalas. Also, I find it very relaxing.

Fun to play with but frustrating with the fill tool on the spiral grid. The fill doesnt usually fill enclosed shapes; and multiple shapes per cell with different fills seems impossible.

It is also very meditative. The reason I didn't give it five stars is I would like to see a more complete color palette. Update: Amaziograph responded to my complaint, and pointed out that they have a much more detailed color palette than I was aware of. You can input any RGB color you want and you can cross fade between colors. I should have read the instructions. Great program, I'm still having lots of fun with it. I have a friend that prints out black and white mandalas, and then colors them in by hand.

I just wish you could long press lines to make them straight or make a streamlined curve and that you could two finger tap to go back

This app has not added any new features at all. It only does one thing and fails. Why no gesture for undo? Why can’t you drag and drop files to other apps? And most of all no rulers. Symmetry without a circle maker is useless. Do better!

I use this almost every day. I find it calming, relaxing and fun. I love the mechanics and how easy it is to use! Although I have other similar apps, this one is by far my favorite!

Hi, I am updating my review. Amaziograph is one of my favorite apps on the iPad! It has always been a five-star app. I have one feature suggestion for the developers to consider. — The templates when choosing your type of tessellation are a little unintuitive. I am talking about the templates such as parallel, kaleidoscope, Mirror, and other iterations. Yes, it is great to have all these options; however, some options are not listed among these suggested layouts, and the wording is confusing and non-visual. My suggestion is that you have a “custom” option. —Select one of the three base shapes; square, triangle, and hexagon. Once inside the design, choose which edges “Mirror, Reverse, have symmetry, etc.” The benefit is that we begin to understand how we are composing our designs while exploring all the available options. I often have an instinct about which shapes and formats will work with a particular tessellation, but I find myself cycling through the layouts a little blindly. In contrast, when I compose a tessellation by hand, I understand how it works—no reason to be complicated about this. I would also like to offer my artwork if you need it to promote this app.

I’m very thankful for this app and a big thank you to the creators. I’d like to join your team and make tutorials for beginners.

Woe, Wow, crazy cool

Go back to the old shape recognition. You can’t draw a curve now without it making it a oval automatically.

Had questions about this program and if it could accomplish what I was trying to achieve prior to purchasing. The Amaziograph team quickly responded and answered all my questions. As an artist, Amaziograph did exactly what I needed it to and I know I will def be using it for my future projects. Thank you guys!

My mom is in love with it and so is my whole family worth 99 cents

This was one of my favorite apps but then I updated it and lost EVERYTHING. My folders are still there but they are completely empty. Support, please let me know if there’s a way I can recover these!! I’ve had the app for years and used it a lot so I’d really like to recover what was lost.

Super fun app. More color selections and brush options would be great

This is a fantastic app it can be mindless or it can be as technical and creatively detailed as you choose. It can be just a relaxing muse, or a kick start to your own endless imaginings.

The drawing tools are very basic. There is no easy way to pick colors, it is a real pain. Importing an existing drawing didn’t work for me at all. This is a nice little app just for having fun, but no serious work could be done with it.

This app alone was one of the few reasons I really wanted an iPad Pro, and it honestly doesn’t disappoint. It does lack in features, so don’t get if you’re wanting some decked out art program and won’t settle for less. Otherwise, get it, have fun, and see where your imagination can take you. Basic enough for non skilled and just enough for skilled artists.

This app is incredible to use, even as a beginner. It was suggested that I get some drawing app to learn to use my Apple Pencil. I’m now addicted to using this app. I’d give it a 100 stars but, 5is the max. Give it a try, you won’t be sorry.

While this app does a great job of giving you the ability to mirror your drawing by the desired number of sides, and does a good job of it, I’ve been spoiled by a few simple features offered by other drawing apps and it kind of kills my flow in Amaziograph. The developers should strongly consider implementing a double tap on the Apple Pencil in order to switch between pen and eraser, as well as a 2 finger tap on the screen to undo and 3 fingers to redo. This would greatly help the flow of creation.

The user ability is flawless can’t wait to see new additions in the future

I love this app. I just wish the pixels were a little better however, if printing pages it seems to fix pixelation.

I love this app. I’ve used it to make repeating patterns, mandalas, coloring pages, stamps, elements for use in other art programs and more. Easy and intuitive to use. One of my favorite apps!

I just wish it had more sophisticated options, like line smoothing and a few other things.

I’m just scratching the surface of the capabilities of this ap. Watching demos on YouTube is worth it.
